In addition, when buying online, you benefit from our permanently low prices.
Compatibility of the Compressor
The Audi A6 C5 is available with two different suspension versions. One of them is the Audi A6 / S6 C5 (Type 4B) as the Allroad Quattro. This has four-wheel drive and is fitted with air suspension on both front and rear axle. The second one is the Audi A6 / S6 C5 (Type 4B) Avant, which as a pure front-wheel drive only has air suspension on the rear axle. Since the air strut and the compressor of both vehicle types differ from each other, the compressor offered here is only compatible with the Allroad version; however, the compressor for the Avant models can also be found in our shop.
Advice for a Professional Installation of the New Compressor
Our Aerosus Audi A6 C5 Allroad Quattro Compressor comes with the matching 4-pin relay, the intake manifold and the G290 thermal sensor. To ensure trouble-free installation and long operation of the compressor, you must also replace the relay with the provided new one when replacing the compressor. The relay is located on the relay carrier in the driver's foot well. The compressor is located in front of the spare wheel, beneath the vehicle.
Our compressor delivers an average operating pressure of 10 bar. When filling the pressure reservoir, the operating power can even be over 16 bar. To ensure optimal operation, all our compressors have been lifetime- tested. In addition, our Audi A6 C5 compressors have an integrated dryer, which dries the humid ambient air and supplies the compressed air system with the dry air.
Compressor Failed? Here's What Might Have Caused It
In order for the air suspension and automatic level control to work without problems, the system requires a compressed air compressor. Its task is to supply the level control and the air suspension with compressed air. To prevent overheating of the compressor at longer run times, it is monitored by a thermal sensor. This switches off the compressor when it reaches a predetermined temperature. In some cases, if the compressor relay is out of date, this protection may not work and the compressor may fail. Therefore, it is important to always exchange the relay and the thermal sensor together with the compressor.
The most common cause of damage to the compressor is a leaking air suspension system or a leaking air spring. As a rule, this causes the compressor to overheat quickly as a result of continuous work, and it also overstrains the dryer in the compressor. Replacing or repairing a compressor can quickly become a costly affair. Therefore, always check the entire air suspension system for leaks after such a defect, before you put the new Aerosus air suspension compressor for your Audi A6 C5 4B into operation.
